Yilmaz's sustainable 'Legend Reborn' collection revives Sumerian style for LFW

Fashion designer Neslisah Yilmaz will showcase her new AW24 collection, Legend Reborn, at a Fashion Scout event in London on February 17th at 6:30pm. The collection pays homage to the ancient Sumerian civilisation of Mesopotamia, which pioneered advanced weaving techniques as early as the 3rd millennium BCE. 

Ancient art shows Sumerians wearing sophisticated draped and wrapped garments, influencing later Greek and Egyptian fashions. Inspired by Sumerian royalty, Yilmaz uses modern materials and workmanship from the same region to recreate their elegance on the London Fashion Week catwalk. 

The recycled fabrics give new life to PET bottles collected from the ocean, exemplifying the collection's sustainability. Yilmaz hopes these timeless legends reborn will endure for generations.
