Emerging British/Greek designer Savvas Alexander has unveiled his debut collection for Autumn/Winter 2024, focusing on sustainable design and production. Titled "Ellipses," the collection explores the circular nature of fashion through both concept and manufacturing.
Iterative design process yields innovative silhouettes
Over the course of a year, Alexander developed a design methodology marrying old and new. Using advanced technologies like laser cutting, he created pieces with signature perforations for breathability and freedom. The collection features 12 looks in hues of black, grey, and blue with pops of azure. Silhouettes reference airplane wings and abstract art, reimagining classics like the turtleneck and trench coat.

Local production minimises environmental impact
In line with the brand's "future localism" ethos, the collection was produced sustainably in London. A micro-factory model enabled swift small-batch production to meet demand. Mono-material pieces facilitate eventual recycling. An azure scarf features a digitally printed motif from the computer-aided cutting process.

Gender-fluid, functional accessories complete the looks
Accessories like the envelope bag mirror the iterative design process. Fold-over fabrics and discreet fastenings streamline construction. The shopper bag, made in collaboration, experiments with proportions. Overall, the accessories offer functionality and recyclability.
