Chris Martin, who first sparked romance rumours with Dakota at the end of 2017, has now parted ways with the actress after nearly a decade-long relationship.
The Materialists actress and the singer Coldplay frontman are no longer romantically involved. The couple, who got engaged after several years of dating, have decided to go their separate ways after nearly eight years together.
Dakota, 35 and Chris 49, were last seen together as a couple in May. Although they had previously denied split rumours back in August, this time the breakup appears to be confirmed.
Why did they keep their relationship so private from the public eye?
"It is important to say that (romantic love) is such a big factor in everything," Chris- who shares two children, Apple Martin (21) and Moses Martin (19), with his ex wife Gwyneth Paltrow- said in Rolling Stone cover interview in December, "Even though it feel right to keep it precious and private, I'm not denying its power."
Even though they chose not to speak publicly about their relationship often, Dakota once addressed pregnancy rumours back in 2018.
"The only thing hectic I'm pregnant with is lot of really good ideas," she told Ellen DeGeneres at the time." But not any babies."
Due to their hectic schedules, Dakota and Chris spent most of their time together away from the spotlight.
"We've been together for quite a while," Dakota told Elle UK in 2021. "We go out sometimes, but we both work so much that it's nice to be at home and be cozy and private. Most of the partying takes a place inside my home."
Dakota, daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, was also mindful of Chris' blended family.
"maybe I think about relationship like differently because I grew up in my family," she told Vanity Fair in 2022, "We were all cool."
"Obviously, there were times when it was not cool, "she added; "butI experienced that, so I don't and want that in my life. I don't want any kids to experience anything like that. It's better to be kind, and it's also really nice that everybody actually really loves each other and has each other's backs."
