Sagaboi, under the creative direction of Geoff K. Cooper, is set to present its SS24 collection titled "OFF TEH BOAT" at the London Fashion Week. The collection draws inspiration from the migration of people and their response to new cultures. It aims to offer fashion imbued with energy through vibrant colors, textures, prints, and manipulations that celebrate intermixing.
Geoff Cooper challenges the derogatory term "Fresh Off The Boat" associated with immigrants by reimagining it as a confident arrival into new spaces.
Sagaboi incorporates elements of steel pan culture into its branding and showcases steel pan-inspired designs. The collection includes handmade knitwear, West Indian colloquial terms on slogan teas, and pays tribute to the 75th anniversary of the SS Empire Windrush's arrival.
Sagaboi collaborates with the Museum of London, celebrating its 20th anniversary and Windrush's 75th, referencing the first Indo-Caribbean exhibition. The brand also partners with Ukrainian accessories brand ètape to create bags adorned with Sagaboi's village print. The collection aims to highlight the appreciation and panache that can accompany the contributions of new arrivals to foreign shores.
Sustainability is a key focus for Sagaboi, with 75% of the collection using remnant fabrics and eco-yarns. The SS24 collection offers a free-spirited exploration of personality through a multicultural lens, combining streetwear, leisurewear, and expressive tailoring.
